Arizona weather forecast: Sky Harbor records hottest temperature this year

The heat is on! Saturday officially brought us the hottest temperatures so far this year with a high of 104 degrees at Sky Harbor Airport.

Temperatures will again be toasty on Sunday. The forecast high in Phoenix is 101 degrees with temperatures varying around the Valley between 97 and 101 degrees. It will be sunny and breezy, too.

Stronger winds will approach with a pattern shift on Monday. Gusts up to 30-35 mph in Phoenix and 40-45 mph in the High Country are expected. A passing system will move through, generally dry, with only an isolated shower chance across the state. Instead, it will help cool us briefly.

The forecast high Monday is 93 degrees in Phoenix with a mostly sunny sky.

The high temperature will gradually warm back up during the workweek. A high of 94 is forecast Tuesday, and 97 both Wednesday and Thursday.

Another system passing well to the north of Arizona brings a gusty day on Thursday with highs sticking in the middle 90s Friday and into next weekend.

Overall, this forecast looks fairly dry, which means continued threat for wildfire development-- especially this coming Monday. A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Monday over portions of Northern, Eastern and Southeastern Arizona.
