Woman, toddler badly injured after Goodyear DUI driver hits them, FD says

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - A woman and a toddler were hit by an alleged DUI driver in Goodyear on Tuesday evening, the fire department said.

The incident happened near Van Buren Street and Dysart Road on April 23. The circumstances leading up to the crash haven't been detailed.

A woman and toddler were in critical condition and are receiving medical treatment. The driver involved, police say, was arrested.

"The driver of the vehicle remained and cooperated with the investigation. The driver has been arrested as the investigation continues. Impairment is believed to be a factor in this collision," said Goodyear Police Lt. Jeff Carrion said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
